Senior Communications & Engagement Manager

An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Communications & Engagement Manager to lead strategic community and stakeholder engagement for a major infrastructure project. This role requires strong leadership, communication expertise, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

As the Senior Communications & Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing communication strategies, stakeholder engagement, and risk management to ensure the successful delivery of major infrastructure. This role will require a proactive approach to issue resolution, strategic planning, and leading a high-performing engagement team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading strategic engagement efforts to align with project goals
  • Developing and executing high-quality communication strategies, ensuring transparency and clarity in messaging
  • Managing community and stakeholder relationships, addressing concerns, and fostering trust
  • Identifying and mitigating potential risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues affecting project delivery
  • Supervising and mentoring a team of community engagement professionals to ensure effective service delivery
  • Developing detailed reports and stakeholder updates, contributing insights to inform project planning
  • Coordinating engagement activities such as public consultations, information sessions, and outreach programs

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience: A minimum of seven years’ experience in community and stakeholder engagement, communications, and infrastructure project delivery
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing a team, fostering collaboration, and driving high performance
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to assess risks, anticipate issues, and develop solutions to mitigate challenges
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong track record of building trust with government agencies, industry partners, and community groups
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and negotiation skills, with experience developing communication strategies
  • Ability to navigate complex issues with diplomacy and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and stakeholder management tools such as Consultation Manager
  • A degree in communications, public affairs, or a related field.
